Widget Credits
Widget credits (widget embed requests) are a Premium Plus exclusive feature. The embeddable widget itself requires Premium Plus, so widget credits only apply to Premium Plus subscribers.
Widget credits — also called widget embed requests — are consumed each time your embedded DoesItHaveIt? widget loads on an external page and makes an API call to retrieve address data. Your Premium Plus subscription includes 5,000 widget embed requests per month.
What is a widget embed request?
A widget embed request is counted when:
- A visitor loads a page on your site that contains the DoesItHaveIt? widget embed snippet
- The widget makes an API call to load results (either for a pre-set address or after a user enters and submits an address)
What does NOT count as a widget embed request
- The widget's address search bar appearing on the page before a user submits a lookup
- A cached result being returned within 5 minutes for the same address (the cache prevents duplicate charges for users who reload a page)
- Failed requests (e.g., the widget loaded but received a network error before completing)
- Requests from your own domain during development if you've added your dev domain to the allowed list

Volume tiers for additional credit packs
When your 5,000/month allotment isn't enough, you can purchase additional widget credit packs at any time. Larger packs have lower per-request costs:
| Pack size | Pack price | Per-request cost |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 requests | $15.00 | $0.0015/request |
| 50,000 requests | $60.00 | $0.0012/request |
| 250,000 requests | $250.00 | $0.0010/request |
| 500,000 requests | $450.00 | $0.0009/request |
Your included 5,000/month requests are equivalent to approximately $0.0015/request at the 10k pack rate. High-volume sites (with 50,000+ widget loads per month) benefit from significant per-unit savings at higher tiers.
To purchase: Dashboard → Billing → Widget Credits → Buy credits.
Rollover policy
Widget credits never expire. Unused credits from your monthly allotment carry forward indefinitely as long as your subscription is active. There is no use-it-or-lose-it window — credits accumulate until you use them.
Credits from purchased packs also never expire. They are added to your balance and remain there until consumed.
Credits are consumed oldest-first (FIFO): your oldest credits are used before newer ones.
What happens when you run out of credits
When your widget credit balance reaches zero:
- The widget still loads on your page
- Instead of displaying address data, it shows a graceful message: "Powered by DoesItHaveIt? — service temporarily unavailable"
- The address search bar may still appear, but submitting a search returns the unavailable message
- The host page is not broken — the widget handles zero-credit states gracefully and does not throw JavaScript errors
This is a hard stop, not an overage model. You will not be automatically charged for requests beyond your balance. To restore widget functionality, purchase additional credits in Dashboard → Billing → Widget Credits.
Overage option
If you prefer to avoid service interruption when credits run low, you can enable automatic top-up in Dashboard → Billing → Widget Credits → Auto top-up. With auto top-up enabled:
- When your balance drops below a threshold you set (e.g., 500 requests), an automatic purchase of your chosen pack size fires
- You are notified by email when auto top-up triggers
- Auto top-up can be disabled at any time
Monitoring usage
Dashboard → Billing → Widget Credits shows:
- Current balance
- Daily and monthly usage charts
- Per-domain breakdown (if you've embedded the widget on multiple domains)
- Estimated days until balance reaches zero at current usage rate
Credit balance warning emails are sent when your balance drops below 10% of your monthly allotment. You can adjust this threshold in Settings → Notifications.
Bundle discount
Purchasing widget credit packs and promotion credit packs together in a single transaction qualifies for a bundle discount. See Promotion Credits for the full bundle tier table.
