Ad Placements

A promoted listing can compete for one or more of five placements on a results page. Each placement has different visibility, but there's no extra cost per placement — pick as many as you want within your existing plan tier and credit weight. Which listing actually wins a given placement's auction is decided by credit tier, not by how many placements it's competing for.

The five placements

PlacementWhere it appearsVisibility
Map pinA highlighted pin (with a business card popup) inside the results-page map, in the "Featured nearby" sectionShown when a user opens the map for a category your listing qualifies for
Card badgeA "Promoted" badge on your business's category cardShown once per qualifying category card on the results page
Top of resultsA featured strip near the top of the results pageShown across the top of the page, above the category cards
SidebarA sticky card alongside the results listStays visible while a visitor scrolls through the results
Bottom of resultsA strip after the last organic resultLowest-visibility placement; entry-level pricing

The map pin and card badge placements are won together by a single listing per category card — whichever listing wins the auction for that card appears in both places at once. Top of results, sidebar, and bottom of results are independent placements: a different listing can win each of them on the same page, and a listing that already won a card's map pin/badge won't also occupy the sidebar or bottom-of-results slot on that same page.

How the auction picks a winner

For any placement, eligible listings (matching ZIP/radius targeting, category, and the placement itself) are ranked by:

  1. Credit tier (Premier outranks Boosted outranks Standard)
  2. 30-day click-through rate, as a tie-break
  3. How long the promotion has been running, as a final tie-break

See Promotion Credits & Pricing for how credit tiers work.

Takeover — by request

Separate from the five self-serve placements above, a takeover puts your campaign around the entire results page: a full-page background skin plus left and right side rails, designed by our team. Takeovers are not part of the credit auction — they're sold per campaign flight (a scheduled date range) at custom pricing, and only one runs at a time. Request one from the promotion dashboard ("Takeover ads — by request") and we'll come back with a design and a quote.
